Making an Olympic Archer

To become an Olympic archer, you have to be a bit of a dreamer.  I think you have to be able to imagine you can achieve something that, really, only a very few people actually do.  Perhaps you even know, or realize early on, that it’s going to take a great deal of dedication, an incredible amount of focus, a lot of time, and some significant costs, including equipment, training, and other resources necessary to reach the pinnacle of this sport.

Archery attracts a certain personality type that is uncommon among the general population. Uncommon even among athletes. Certainly, there are many more participants than there are champions, just like any sport. Nonetheless, it is a sport that is accessible to just about anyone. With proper training and the aforementioned dedication, elite status can be reached.

Becoming an Olympic Archer

Anyone can come to be proficient in this sport but, in this series, I’m talking about the truly elite: those with the goal to become an Olympic archer.  It’s a rare feat and a noble ambition.

One such dreamer is Andrew and this is our story, athlete and coach, setting out to achieve what we’ve been told is an impossible dream.

“It’s crazy.”

Thank you, Colin Kaepernick, for the inspiration and encouragement given with the following words: “It’s only crazy until you do it.”

Stay tuned for updates. Join us on our dream journey! Perhaps it’s your dream too…
